Communion

(4 minutes)

Now we are entering in a time of communion. Communion is a time for the global body of Christ where we take the bread and the cup in remembrance of all Jesus has done.

  • Even though we aren’t together, still collectively as a church community we are partaking in communion as one body.
  • 1 Corinthians 11:23-28: For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. 27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.

During this time of communion, we want to reflect on the reason in which Jesus had to go to the cross. Jesus died on the cross for our sin and now we want to examine ourselves as we are called to before taking communion. We want to look inward and become aware of the sin in our lives. So, before you partake together take a moment and reflect on your heart and the sin in your lives. We are forgiven but first we must confess.

As we come together as one body to the table, now eat the bread and drink the juice. Examine your heart and life in light of all that Jesus has done.
